Heya!!
I am writing a profile of my main character for my novel- but im a bit stuck...
righ now all i have is her name and hair colour,. What else should be put into a profile?
thanks!
Character's profile.?
A lot of authors create detailed histories of the main character. Starting from birth (and maybe all the way up to their death).
After covering the generics (hair colour, name, parents, siblings, occupation, race, etc) you can get quite detailed.
Some detailed notes you could develop on your character could include: what hosptial where they born at, what school did they attend when they were young, did they have any teachers they disliked or loved, who were her mates, what were her dreams, favourite song, favourite meal, TV show, etc. What are her turn-offs? What have been her major dissapointments in life?
Of course, you wouldn't have to share all these details with the reader, however, if you keep them down it forms the character into more of a 3D mold for you to work with.
Good luck.
Reply:erm...age, eye colour, height, weight, strengths and weaknesses? hobbies, likes, dislikes, etc...
Hope that helped x
Reply:-What's s/he's greatest strength? Weakness?
-How does s/he perceive them self?
-How do others see them?
-Favourites like food, colour, outfit, book, TV show, movie and least favourites as well.
-What's their deepest, darkest secret? Does anyone know? Were they told or did they just find out, and if they just found out, how?
-Talents... is s/he naturally gifted at something?
-Hobbies
-Relationships with others
-Introvert or Extrovert?
-What's their dearest, fondest memory?
-What's their worst memory?
-Why does said memory still affect them, colour their judgement?
Just a few of the deeper thoughts that you should know about them.
Reply:Personality, family members (how many) blood type, birthday, habits...
Reply:strengths and weaknesses...her vices...faults? her personality...how will she interact with other characters? how do you see her developing? what is her past like? does her past influence her motivations in your novel?
Reply:you should have what kind of personality she has, if she's athletic or not...stuff like that not just all physical stuff but the inside stuff too
Reply:Sarah,
Think of a girl you really think is pretty. Take that girl and build her up even more. Be careful here. Don't go and overdue the descriptive data. That's kind of boring after a while. Think of what she is going to be doing in the story. She may have a hard row to hoe, or she may come from a wealthy family.
Her personality is just as important as her strength. How she dresses is up to you and, once again, whatever it is she will be doing in the story most of the time.
Don't get too confused with the profile at first. Write the story and watch how your character will take over every so often. I know you'll be totally amazed. Sometimes in my work I'll say to myself, "Where did that come from?"
Good Luck!
